Have you ever felt like you were bumping your head up against a wall at some point in your life? No matter what you did to try to make something work it just did not. The harder you tried to force it to work, the more resistance you received. The wall got bigger and stronger. Your head got more bruised and painful. In the end, you may have thought, “What was I thinking?”
This is what it can be like on the spiritual journey at times. Sometimes, we make mistakes and hit a wall. The key is to bump our heads only once, learn, change direction, and move on.
